Who we are

SRP is made up of a range of partner organisations working together to deliver a Stratford which will be an exciting place to live and work. For more information about each partner and a link to their homepage please use the list below.

East Thames Group www.east-thames.co.uk

East Thames Group is a social housing provider which has been based in east London since it was founded in 1979. The Head Office is in Stratford. East Thames Group owns and manages around 13,500 homes and employs over 1,000 staff, and is the largest housing association provider in Newham. As such they are a key stakeholder in the regeneration of the area. Their mission is 'to make a positive and lasting contribution to the neighbourhoods in which we work'.

Land Securities www.landsecurities.com

The Land Securities Group is made up of three core businesses: Retail, London Portfolio and Land Securities Trillium (property partnership), plus a growing team dedicated to Urban Community Development. The scale and vision of operations makes Land Securities a major force in shaping the British landscape. Retail property makes up the largest share of Land Securities portfolio, with a substantial development programme under way. The shopping centre and retail park portfolio extends across the whole of the UK and includes some of the most popular and successful retail destinations in the country such as the Bullring in Birmingham, Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth together with major holdings across London. Land Securities own the long-term leasehold of Stratford Shopping Centre and are actively pursuing regeneration proposals for the site.

Local Forums

There are three key local forums, each with a seat on the SRP Board:

The Cultural Forum

The Stratford Cultural Forum comprises the Theatre Royal Stratford East, Stratford Circus, Discover, Creative Partnerships, the Picture House, the University of East London, Birkbeck College, East Potential and the London Borough of Newham. The forum is a key stakeholder in the growth agenda in Stratford, building on the areas distinct and unique cultural heritage. Its aim is to develop a dynamic cultural offer, helping local people understand and embrace change and to improve the attractiveness of the area to those outside. Moreover, by using culture as an essential part of place making in Stratford, the Cultural Forum hopes to foster a sense of ownership of the new Stratford for both existing and future residents.

The Town Centre Forum http://www.stcf.biz/index.html

Stratford Town Centre Forum (STCF) represents the interests of local businesses. It began as the Town Centre sub-committee of Stratford City Challenge in 1993 and has been involved with successive Single Regeneration Budget programmes in the area. STCF is now formally recognised as a sub group of the SRP. The objectives of the Forum include supporting the promotion and marketing of Stratford as a great place to work, live and visit, the continuous improvement of the quality and management of town centre facilities and services and to provide a focus and contact point for agencies engaged in town centre related activities.

London Development Agency (LDA) www.lda.gov.uk

The LDA is the Mayor's agency responsible for driving London's sustainable economic growth –its job to ensure that London remains a global success story. To help the LDA deliver this it works with partners from industry, public and voluntary sectors. As well as driving forward equality, health and sustainability, its work is prioritised by four themes, regenerating London, supporting people, encouraging business and marketing London. The LDA undertook the land acquisition for the Olympic Park and as land owner will be the key agency in delivering the long-term regeneration of the site, post Olympics.

London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) www.ltgdc.org.uk

The LTGDC is the key government agency responsible for delivering social and economic growth to transform the London Thames Gateway, part of Europe's largest regeneration project and within which Stratford is located. One of only three Urban Development Corporations in the country, it has significant powers, including land acquisition and Development Control responsibilities. Its role is to affect change, by helping to improve the prospects for new homes, jobs, services and environmental improvements for local people.

London & Continental Railways (LCR) www.lcrhq.co.uk

LCR has responsibility for the multi-billion-pound regeneration of land around the CTRL stations, including Stratford International, in partnership with developers and in close co-ordination with Government agencies, local authorities and communities. It is has an important role in enabling the London 2012 Olympics and in delivering homes and jobs in the Thames Gateway.

London & Quadrant Group (L&Q) www.lqgroup.org.uk/

London & Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) opened in 1963 and is one of the UK’s largest housing associations. The group works with more than 70 local authorities in London and the SE. L&Q manages nearly 50,000 homes and were responsible for the futuristic 19-storey tower called the Stratford Eye.

Newham College of Further Education http://www.newham.ac.uk/

Newham College of Further Education is an independent further education corporation. It is the largest provider of post-14 education and training in Newham and one of the largest in London. Top of page

Newham Council http://www.newham.gov.uk/

Newham Council is the local authority and as such is a key player in the delivery of vital public services in the area. It has a long history as the key local agency for change and has been the public sector lead on the key regeneration initiatives in Stratford. It is the statutory plan making authority currently developing the Local Development Framework and represents and is accountable to the local community. Newham Council owns the Stratford Shopping Centre and other significant land holdings, within the Stratford area.

Theatre Royal Stratford East www.stratfordeast.com

Theatre Royal, Stratford East opened in 1884 and remains a key cultural and historical asset in Stratford. Its mission includes a commitment to broaden the Theatre Royal’s influence both within Britain and abroad and encourage involcement in theatre. The venue represents an important anchor for cultural development in Stratford and as such is an important stakeholder in defining the character and identity of the area.

The University of East London (UEL) www.uel.ac.uk

The UEL is an exciting, diverse learning community, which aims to give its students an enthusiasm for new ideas, new knowledge and new learning, and the opportunities to excel in their chosen careers. It has two campuses in Stratford and is a vitally important organisation in the education of the local population. This includes the historic Stratford Campus on Romford Road and Duncan House on Stratford High Street.

Westfield www.westfield.com/ukcentres

Westfield is a leading retail property group and is responsible for designing and developing Stratford City. As co-signatories of the Section 106 developer obligations they have made public commitment to considerable on-going investment in the Stratford area for many years to come. Operating on a global platform, the group undertakes ownership, development, design, construction, fund and asset management, property management, leasing and marketing. Westfield has interests in an investment portfolio of 120 shopping centres, with a value of approximately £23 billion, located in Australia the US, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, employing over 4,400 staff worldwide.
