SRP elects new chair

On Monday 18th January 2010, the SRP Board elected June Barnes as its new chair. June, who is Chief Executive of East Thames Group, the largest housing association operating in East London, was elected unanimously by fellow directors.  A member of SRP since its inception in 2006, June takes on the role from Sir Christopher Benson whose term as independent chair ended in December 2009.

June said “SRP are one of the keys to promoting Stratford at a time of huge change, celebrating its existing successes and achievements and preparing it for an exciting future. I look forward as Chair to working with the rest of the Board and other key stakeholders in supporting Stratford's continuing success“.

SRP is currently producing the next phase of its business plan which is expected to have a strong emphasis on “telling Stratford’s story”. This will include celebrating and promoting Stratford’s unique offer, its position within London, its heritage and people and the opportunities which will be brought about by major development.
